Devastating Plane Crash in Brazil’s Amazon Rainforest

A small passenger plane met with tragedy in Brazil’s Amazon rainforest over the weekend, claiming the lives of all 14 individuals aboard, as announced by Amazonas state Governor Wilson Lima.

Lima expressed his deep sorrow for the loss of 12 passengers and two crew members in a plane crash that occurred in Barcelos on Saturday, sharing his condolences on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter).

The ill-fated aircraft, an Embraer PT-SOG, had departed from Manaus, the capital of Amazonas state and the largest city in the Amazon region. It was in the midst of attempting to land during heavy rain when the crash transpired, according to local media reports.

The passengers were identified as Brazilian tourists en route to a fishing expedition, as per the reports.

Video footage, shared by the Globo television network, revealed the plane resting on a muddy dirt track, partially concealed by lush green foliage. In the vicinity, a small gathering of individuals stood holding umbrellas.

The Brazilian Air Force promptly dispatched a team from Manaus to gather information and preserve any potential evidence for the crash investigation, as indicated in an official Air Force statement.
